New York, March 10 -- Ric Edelman’s latest best seller, The Lies About Money, has won a Gold Medal in the inaugural Axiom Business Book Awards competition.
The Lies About Money, Edelman’s sixth book, received the top award in the Personal Finance category.
The Axiom Business Book Awards were established this year to recognize exemplary business books and their authors. Sponsors include Inc. magazine and book publisher and marketer Jenkins Group Inc. Nearly 400 entries were received in this year’s contest. Award winners were honored at a reception and ceremony in New York today.
“I wanted to write a book that warns investors about the ongoing scandal in the retail mutual fund industry, and show them how they can quickly and easily take back control of their investments to put them back on a path toward financial security,” said Edelman. “I’m deeply honored that the Axiom Award judges feel that I achieved that goal.”
This is not the first time Edelman has won a major publishing award. His first book, the widely acclaimed personal finance classic The Truth About Money, was named 1997 Business Book of the Year by Small Press magazine.
Since then, Edelman has become one of the most successful writers in the personal finance field. But unlike others, Edelman is not merely a writer. He is founder and chairman of Edelman Financial Services LLC, Fairfax, Va., ranked by Barron’s in 2007 as the No. 2 independent financial advisor in the nation. He also hosts The Ric Edelman Show, broadcast nationwide each week by the ABC Radio Networks, and writes a weekly newspaper column on personal finance. His advice can be found at RicEdelman.com.
